Its design is mostly based on a mix of the porsche spyder and porsche 550 spyder. But more important, the boxster came with a water-cooled engine from the beginning, even if the first model was launched in 1996 (note that the 911 model migrated to water-cooled engines in 1998). In contrast to the 911 generation which came with rear-mounted engines, the boxster has a mid-engine configuration which improved its handling and enhanced the aerodynamics. The boxster has a 2. 7 liter engine and got a horsepower boost in 2000, going from 201 to 217. Besides cargo, the boxster's cockpit has a good deal of space for two occupants and features wonderful, cradling seats. For 2000, the boxster gains a new soft-touch grain instrument panel and other upgraded interior trim. The shifter and door handles now have an aluminum-like finish. This is one of the world's greatest sports cars. The handling is both confident and communicative. The steering feedback is fantastic. The chassis is extremely stiff, especially for a convertible. There's nothing like the growl of that boxster engine at 5500 rpms, or the handling on turns. Plus 396 boxster design 17'' wheels, arctic silver metallic paint, 446 wheel caps w/colored crest.
